Catherine McAuley Auditorium

2011

In 2011, the Catherine McAuley Auditorium was opened on the site of the school playground, which was moved to the Mitchell courtyard.

The Catherine McAuley Auditorium, named in honour of the founder of the Mercy Order, opened on the top floor with classrooms at the ground level. The auditorium was built of red brick to match the College library.

The Expressive Arts Centre lift was part of this development. The copper sculpture of Christ was relocated from the Campion Jordan Building to the lift tower.

A plaque in the lift remembers Christine Phillips, a member of the SAC staff, who died in 2010. The plaque was donated by the engravers, whose daughter Lara Vasic (Class of 2009), fondly remembered being taught Art by Chris.
