Dr Eva Balan-Vnuk

Eva Balan attended St Aloysius College from 1990-1995. As a student she was active in debating and public speaking, was involved in the choir, the orchestra as well as school dramas and musicals. Eva demonstrated a commitment to social justice by leading the Amnesty Group within the school.

She completed a degree in International Relations and Marketing from the University of South Australia and a PhD in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Adelaide.

Eva spent nine years working for Microsoft in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia and was the State Director of Microsoft in South Australia. She is currently the South Australian Government Chief Information Officer, in the Department of Premier and Cabinet. In this role, Eva and her team keep the SA Government safe from cyberthreat, provide core technology services that allow SA Government to function such as email and internet and engage with citizens and businesses to deliver government services in new and better ways, using digital technologies.

She is also founder of HerTechPath, a community of women working in the technology sector in South Australia, who deliver briefings to high schools to inspire girls to consider careers in this exciting and important sector.
